As a FairFremtid volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference for asylum children and their families while becoming part of our dedicated and supportive community.
You will gain experience working in the asylum field and knowledge about the Danish Aliens Act and asylum processes in Denmark.

We expect our volunteers to spend 2 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months at a time. When you put in your hours is entirely up to you, your team and any clients.

At FairFuttid you can either volunteer in a team that is in direct contact with asylum children and families or in one of our organizational teams.

What role can you play as a volunteer?

Contact person Legal advisor Legal support Family therapist Fundraising Communication Human Resources (HR)

Contact person

Role description

As a contact person, you will be assigned to one asylum seeker child or family that you will caregiver for.

Tasks

Your tasks depend on the child's interests and needs, but can range from homework help and creative activities to practical or social support in everyday life.

Requirements

That you can work 2 hours per week on average
That you commit to the work for a minimum of 6 months
That you participate in regular joint supervision

Legal advisor

Role description

As a legal advisor, you will advise and represent asylum children and their families in asylum and residence permit cases.
You will collaborate with different actors such as immigration authorities, immigration lawyers, municipalities and asylum centers.

Training

You will receive a longer training program so that you will eventually be able to handle your own cases.

Requirements

That you speak and write Danish fluently
That you can work 2 hours per week on average
That you commit to the work for a minimum of 6 months
That you participate in training and monthly supervision meetings

Legal support

Role description

As part of the legal support team, you will provide administrative and research support to the legal advisors.

Tasks

Your tasks may include research for specific client cases or drafting guidelines on how to best support asylum seekers from a legal perspective.

Requirements

That you can work 2 hours per week on average
That you commit to the work for a minimum of 6 months
That you can attend the weekly community meeting that takes place from 11-12 every Tuesday

Family therapist

Role description

As a volunteer family therapist, you support families in understanding each other better, strengthening interaction and dealing with everyday challenges.
You are part of our family therapy team and contribute to safety, well-being and positive change in families.

Tasks

You will receive a longer training to confirm that you will ultimately be able to handle cases on your own. The training will require xx hours per week and will be spread over a period of xx months.

Requirements

That you have a degree within the psychological field
That you speak Danish fluently
That you can work 2 hours per week on average
That you commit to the work for a minimum of 6 months

Fundraising

Role description

As part of the fundraising team, you will work to raise funds for FairFuture's activities and work for asylum seeking children and families. You will work with the communications team to write content for specific donation campaigns.
It is an advantage if you have experience in writing fund applications or seeking sponsorships and donations.

Requirements

That you can write and speak Danish fluently
That you can work 2 hours per week on average
That you commit to the work for a minimum of 6 months

Communication

Role description

As part of the communications team, you will work to communicate our messages on social media, website and newsletters. The team's goal is to raise awareness about the rights and conditions of asylum-seeking children in Denmark.
You will also occasionally be involved in planning campaigns with a focus on political influence.

Requirements

That you can work 2 hours per week on average
That you commit to the work for a minimum of 6 months

Human Resources (HR)

Role description

As part of the HR team, you'll help welcome new volunteers through application review and interviews. You'll receive support and a clear framework to assess who fits the different roles.
We work on the principle that at least two people approve new volunteers to ensure a good match for both the individual and the organization.

How we prepare you for volunteering

How we prepare you for volunteering

As a new volunteer at FairFremtid, you will be prepared for your work in the organization through an introductory course, where you will learn about the Danish asylum system and immigration law, as well as how we work at FairFremtid. If you wish to become a legal advisor in the organization, you will also undergo a longer training course before you start as an advisor.

What you can learn as a volunteer at FairFremtid

You will develop skills and general knowledge about the asylum process and experiences in Denmark. Depending on your role, you will gain practical experience working with asylum legislation, communication strategies, psychosocial support and general experience working in an advocacy organization.

You will also gain professional, social and personal experience relevant to any work environment and become part of a diverse, international and local community of people from many different backgrounds and educational backgrounds.
